Self-directed learning as a topic began to become known experts in the field of adult education 1960s. As well at that time, its relatively intensive research begins. The purpose this text is map methods used empirical study self-directed learning. For purpose, analysis empirically focused articles published journal only one specializing issue, International Journal Self-Directed Learning, was carried out, and two other journals Adult Education Quarterly (AEQ) Lifelong (IJLE). result total 99 texts above mentioned basic overview instruments can be learning, namely (a) both quantitative qualitative design (b) process self-direction an attribute personality.
